Covata Limited (ASX: CVT), a global leader in data-centric security solutions for enterprise and government, has been accredited within the Cyber Essentials Scheme run by the UK government, further advancing the Company’s position within the UK government marketplace.
Part of the UK government’s National Cyber Security Strategy, the Cyber Essentials Scheme defines a set of controls which, when properly implemented, will provide organisations with basic protection from the most prevalent forms of security threats. It applies to all internet-connected end user devices – including PCs, laptops, mobiles, tablets and internet-connected systems – and aims to create a baseline level of security to mitigate the risk of data and financial loss.
The accreditation shows that Covata has met the Cyber Essentials implementation profile [BIS/14/696] and is deemed to have appropriate cyber security precautions in place. All organisations bidding for government contracts must meet this requirement. Government technology partners are likely to be involved in the collection, processing or storing of citizen data or classified information – making appropriate cybersecurity capabilities even more important. With the threat of cyberattacks at an all-time high, there is nervousness about the government’s ability to keep data secure. The Cyber Essentials accreditation ensures that the cybersecurity benchmark is set high.
Covata CEO, Trent Telford, commented: “We are pleased to have achieved the Cyber Essentials accreditation -it supports our view that a robust security policy is an essential requirement of any responsible entity.
“This is a further step forward in our commitment to service the UK government market, as it moves towards a more digitally secure approach. Only by embracing the latest security innovations, will the UK public sector and other enterprises win the trust of consumers in the face of growing cyber threats.”
The accreditation comes just four months after Covata’s flagship solution, Safe Share, received Tier 2 Secret Classification on G Cloud 8. The unique cloud-based platform is the only file sharing application that has been approved to send ‘Secret’ classification government documents and empowers government departments to collaborate securely. It achieves this via a patented data-centric security approach that ties encryption to identity and policy; ensuring access to data is only granted to those with the relevant security clearance, who must prove their credentials every time secured content is requested.
